The 1998 Rescue: A Defining Moment of our 2nd Generation
The foundation of our rescue work is a personal story of commitment:
In 1998, current owner Efrem Hinojosa (Ibis) witnessed the poor conditions at the Trinidad University zoo. Driven by a deep compassion for animal welfare, he dedicated himself to making his vision of happy, wild animals a reality.
This effort led to Chuchini taking over the care of 186 animals from the zoo. Following a rigorous process of adaptation and natural reproduction in our protected area, we successfully released over 220 animals from this proyect back into the wild. Building on this success, we have now released a total of over 400 animals back into the wild.
Active Wildlife Rescue & Direct Release
Our commitment continues today through active partnerships:We work directly with POFOMA (Bolivia’s Wildlife Police) and renowned rescue expert Professor Marco Greminger.
They continuously bring us rescued animals (confiscated from the black market or saved from devastating fires). These creatures are set free in the protected natural habitat of Chuchini, ensuring minimal stress and maximum chance of survival.
